Our Brave Defender

The gimp wonders if her three faithful readers realize how safe they are with our very own Bobbie guarding our Constitutional rights. A few days ago we had an e mail exchange on the very subject. I recommended that she stock pile ammunition for her gun. She replied that the only gun she has much practical experience with is a caulking gun. She then informed me that she had to cut our exchange short as she had an illegal alien cornered in her car port and she had to rush out and duct tape him to the supports and keep him covered with her weapons of mass construction until Sherrif Joe could send a posse to relieve her. Goshawk was kind enough to create this picture of our very own Bobbie. Uh, would you want to run into her in a dark carport?

Now, on to the answer to the question that got all this started in the first place. She asked me what Israelis think of Obumbler. In order to answer that, some things about Israel have to be explained first.
Israel does not have anything even remotely resembling a Constitution, and is pretty much unabashedly socialistic in nature, thanks to the founding immigrants who came from Russia at around the time of the revolution and became the leaders of the Jewish settlers here. They soon realized that  modified Socialism and Judaism are a pretty good fit. They set up the Histadrut as a quasi pre state self governing entity which would own a bank, health clinics, bus cooperatives and many other companies. That is probably the reason that there was a system in place and ready to go the minute Statehood was declared. The Knesset and government were comprised mostly of Histadrut leaders until the first elections were held. There were some religious party leaders and Begin, of course. But the real power was with those who had had the foresight to set things up so they would have the power. Today the Histadrut is barely somewhat more than just a union. They do still own a national chain of high schools, a health clinic chain, and a few other things. There was even a time not that long ago when, if someone wanted a job they had to be a member of the Histadrut, belong to that health plan and have an account in that bank. As time moved on, those requirements were changed to being valid only for those who wanted to work in Histadrut owned enterprises. I am proud to say that I brought about the change in that. But that's a story for another day. How The Gimp Brought the Strongest Union to It's Knees in One Night! Back on subject, it's pretty hard for the average Israeli to understand what all the fuss about Socialism in America is about. They know very little about the provisions of The Constution, the health care system here is very good, so, they just don't get it. Their own experience in a semi socialist country makes Obumbler sound perfectly reasonable to them.  Even the media don't get it. Some of their diatribes against the second amendment make me want to scream. Most Israelis still haven't really figured out what having Obumbler, HillBilly and Mitchell meddling over here will mean. Bibi Netanyahu does get it. After all, he pretty much grew up over there. He knows just how bad the new administration could be for us. It will take a lot longer for the average Israeli to figure it out, even though some are even now.
Oh dear. I completely forgot to answer Bobbie's first question and got carried away with the second. Israelis are not at all pleased with Obumbler's recent moves in the area. It looks like utter stupidity to most of to announce that he is going to bring lasting (or any other kind) peace by talking. It just doesn't work that way over here. It's not going to be pretty watching him learn the hard way that he couldn't be more wrong and that Israel is not the problem. Giving the Gazans millions of dollars to rebuild after the last go around with them is the dumbest thing he could do. Is he really going to be surprised when not one building is repaired, and all the money has gone to Hamass leader's bank accounts. That is exactly what will happen. The so called Palestinians do not want better lives for their people. If they did, they would have had a thriving State long ago. It really is that simple.
A good example is the rocket that landed in a high school in Ashkelon today. Had it been any other day of the week, the results would have been many dead and more injured. Ok, they know school is out on Saturdays, but those are not guided missiles they are shooting. They have no idea where they will land. They just point them in the general direction and fire them. They could as easily have hit a full synagogue. Of course, now that they know the rocket hit a school, they can try to repeat their success on a school day with devasting results.

Can't you control your own traitors?

The gimp wonders why America has so much trouble keeping her traitors away from other countries.
J. Ketchup Kerry, is once again meddling in things that are non of his bussiness. Foreign policy is not his domain. Senator or not, he has absolutely no business sticking his nose into our affairs, nor should he be talking with the area terrorists. The jerk should have been tried for treason back when he did irrepareable damage to the U. S. in Paris over Viet Nam. Would you guys please please keep him on your side of the pond, if you can't put him behind bars, where he belongs? Why is he doing HillBilly's job over here? I thought Obummer was going to give us his personal attention. Not that he would be any better. But at least it's in his job description. Just what we need. Carter, Mitchell and Ketchup man meddling in this area, all at the same time. Heaven help us. Bibi has quite enough on his plate without having to deal with that unholy trio. Those pictures of Ketchup man sitting with Assad Jr. were sickening. And on the same day that the hizzbullies or their proxies shot katyushas that injured two people. They shot two, but one fell on their side of the border. They only fired them after getting permission from Nassrallah and Assad. No one does anything in Lebanon without permission from above. And there sat Kerry Ketchup with the man who ultimately gave the go ahead.
For those of you who thought I was nuts (I may well be, but that's another issue entirely), it hasn't stopped raining since Peres gave Bibi the task of putting together a coalition. And the weather folks don't see an end to rain any time soon. So, there you have it!
Unfortunately, our press seems to caught the leftitis that is rampant among your media types and are doing their best to make things difficult for Netanyahu. Can't you come up with a cure, or at least a treatment for that terminal disease?

The Day After

The gimp wonders how all the talking heads and that Livni woman missed the obvious. Maybe they have caught the same disease the American Democtrats came down with after the 2006 mid term elections; missunderstanding resultsitis.
The Likud and Kadima are in a virtual tie for first place. Likud won 28 seats while Kadima got 29. The part of the message they missing is that the Israeli voters did not vote overwhelmingly for Kadima. We did say loud and clear to take a hard right turn.  Both parties have forgotten that the 'soldiers votes' have yet to be counted and added to the total.  There is a possibility that their votes could add to the Likud and other right of center parties, as they have traditionally been a little right od center. Netanyahu can put together a coalition without Livni. She can't without him for the simple reason that Avigdor (Yvette) Lieberman's party came in a solid third while Barak and the 'Slave' Party(Labor) crashed. One tiny fly in the ointment is that Peres has to assign either Netanyahu ot Livni the task of putting together the coalition. He is supposed to give that job to the party head that has the best chance of putting a coalition together in the shortest time. Unfortunately, the man is nothing if not a trouble maker and we really don't have time to play to games. It is possible, however, that he will give Bibi the go ahead if enough of the parties let him know that they are joining Netanyahu.
I can already see world leaders pushing for Livni because she seems more reasonable and willing to make suicidal concessions. She can't get a coalition together because the left leaning parties crash landed hard. Netanyahu can put a coalition together of 65 members right now. Lieberman is already flexing his muscles after coming in as the third strongest party with 15. He's saying that he's not in Bibi's pocket. Fine. Nobody wants him in anyone's pocket. We want him in Bibi's government.  He has already had one bad experience with Kadima. He joined their coalition in the hopes of changing things from inside. That experiment pretty much blew up in his face and he finally left the government and went back to the opposition. They all thought they could drag him leftwards. All they managed to do was entrench him more solidly in the right. He'll go with Bibi if he doesn't make so many demands that Bibi can't afford him. I think the man is smarter than that.
After a long night without my interweb connection, I'm letting myself feel a little hope. It will be ok if they just realize that Kadima did not win by anything that resembles a clear cut victory and that the Israeli voters clearly showed that they(we) want a hard right  turn.
The center-leaning left has proven useless, and now it's *our* turn.
Yup. Cautiously optimistic. That's the gimp this morning as she wonders if it will turn out the way it should.

It's election day!!

The gimp wonders if we have learned anything from previous elections. Last time around Kadima won with Olmert at the head of the list. His whole platform consisted of one single idiotic plank. That was that Olmert was Sharon's number two man. That should have been enough to give a resounding loss, but, Israelis still hadn't figured out just how devastating Sharon's pull out from Gaza would be. They also seemed to forget the outright lies he (Sharon) told to get elected while still in the Likud party. He promised to hold a citizen's referendum before any pullout from Gaza, then amended that to a promise that he would abide by what the Likud's central committee desided. Then, without holding a referendum and going against his own party's decision, he went ahead and up rooted all the Jewish families who had made lives in Gaza. Then, he broke away from Likud and founded Kadima taking the worst of Likud's MKs with him, among them Olmert, Livni, and others, who along with Olmert were and still are under Police investigation for a wide array of criminal activities.
By morning we will know if we have learned our lesson.
Just about everyone who knows me has heard my tirade about weather. I firmly believe that when Israel does what she is supposed to do, G-d rewards us with appropriate weather. In 2006, during the war with the Hizzbullies in Lebanon the weather was noticeably mild for the middle of July into August. The very minute we signed a bad agreement and in effect lost that 'war', the temperatures soared and it was miserably hot. Now, during the Gaza to do, the rain held off and made it easier to manuever in Gaza. The rain has still held off even though we are in desperate need of it. Therefore, according to my Theory of Weather, if we vote the right party in, we will get all the rain we need by summer. If not, the drought will continue. I am more than willing to deal with nonstop rain under those conditions. If we mess it up we are doomed either way.

Congress and Illegal Aliens

The gimp wonders why everyone is so upset with Congress over the illegal alien issue these days. Fox News has a series of special programing for their overseas viewers so we won't get jealous watching ads for things we can't buy here. They have been running one lately that shows that less illegals are coming in these days and that some are even leaving due to the economic situation. The credit for that should go to the post 2004 demoncRat congress, shouldn't it? The scary thing is that if this economic stimulous thing could reverse the situation. It seems from their regular reporting that illegals are taking American jobs for less money. Confusing to say the least. I do wonder though. One thing I do know is that I would rather see the commercials for stuff I can't buy than the stuff they give us overseas viewers.
