Are you ready, there in Jerusalem?

The gimp wonders if she will be able to adjust to being called Michelle. A group of slightly mad, extremely angry gimps is leaving Kiryat Shmonah to 'march' to Jerusalem. How do people who can't walk, march, you ask? Easy, I answer. On wheelies, scooters and crutches. We'll be leaving at 0800 in the morning, and groups from other towns will be joining us along the way. We are doing this because our benefits have not been adjusted for inflation/cost of living, as provided for in an agreement signed by the government in 2002.  Today's basic benefit for a single disabled person is 1991 shekels. There's really no way to translate that into dollars, but trust me, it's far from enough for anyone to subsist, never mind survive for a whole month here. Prices of everything, not just petrol have been skyrocketing here. Disabled folk should not have to chose between eating and buying meds, which is what too many are forced to do. Our government (criminals one and all) are too busy trying to save their positions to pay any attention to the group of demonstrators already in Jerusalem. Fine. I know what to do, and have spent the last week organizing it in 100 degree temperatures. We are going to head out as reinforcements to the ones already demonstrating. The press is already all over us, and I've given a few interviews locally today, gotten donations of water and food for the trip. I am ashamed to say that I am ashamed of my country. As long as that Olmert person continues trying to save himself, and give away the country in the process, and trample over everyone in his way, including the disabled, he's going to have a major problem with yours truly. I hope and pray that this will be the last nail in the coffin of his political career in Israel.

Let's just try this again

The gimp wonnders where the post she already wrote went. I'll just try it again, shall I? I simply can not understand how we were so careless and allowed our deterent advantage to slip way, or maybe be given away. It's not that long ago that our government would only have had to tell the kidnappers of a soldier to bring him back, or else. Of course, before Rabin and friends let Arafat come here, none of this would have happened. Strange as it sounds today, we were getting along ok with the folks who lived in the West Bank and Gaza. Of course that was before the Imams decided that any patch of land in any place that a Moslim had so much as stepped on was sacred, holy ground and theirs forever more. And before we bought into the rest of the Palestinian myth that they deserve a state too. Thing is, with them, there's no too. They want it all and will not share. If the whole Gaza nonsense isn't enough, now our 'once again under investigation, Prime Minister is talking about giving the Golan to Syria. I do feel confident that he won't be allowed to do that, but, he can do a lot of damage before he's stopped. This whole farce of a government has to stopped before it gives away the whole thing. They can't be trusted to keep agreements they've signed. I'm hoping to get a chance to take them on soon. They made an agreement with the disabled to grant cost of living raises to our benefits, but never did. I find it hard to believe that they really want me back there. It was during the 1999 demonstration that I spearheaded the takeover of the Finance Ministry building, which lead to all the ministry's being barricaded. I also caused the government more than a little discomfort by being interviewed by the foreign press pool. They did not like what I had to say one little bit. If all goes according to plan, the northern contingent will be heading towards Jerusalem to force them to honor their agreements with us, and with any luck to hasten the end of this government of crooks, liars and cowards. Mr. Olmert, if you see a gimp in purple coming towards you, run, run as fast you can.

Wobbie sighting

The gimp wonders how our friend Robert, a resident of so many states that it seems there indeed are 57 can stand himself.
There is a TV show called An Eye for An Eye, where the 'judge' hands down his version of justice in the cases brought before him. We were but 3 minutes into one of the cases when I realized that the plaintiff could could be none other than our very own Wobbie. The plaintiff had gone to a wrestling match, where, he got himself beaten up by one of the wrestlers. The guy arrived in court with his 'wrestling action figures' and swore that wrestling is real, not staged. The wrestler who beat on him was nothing more than a bully and made fun of our rotund, balding, with a fringe of Bozo hair, Wobbie. The judge ruled in Wobbie's favor after sending him out of the room so he could tell the defendant that he was to throw the fight and let Wobbie win. The fight, in fact, the whole thing was pathetic, but Wobbie did indeed win the match and waddled off clutching his action figures with an imbecilic smile on his face.
Yup! I've seen Wobbie, and spent the night nursing a sore stomach from laughing so hard.

Some times it just takes a gimp more time

The gimp wonders what took her so long to figure this out. I can't count the number of pundits who have tried to find a local comparison to describe the Israeli-Hamas situation. Of all the myriad attempts I have yet to see one that even comes close.
Then it struck me. There is an analogy! Never mind Canada, Mexico, or some rogue states. Imagine for a moment that the Abenaki, Androscoggin, Passamaquody and Penobscot tribes got together and decided that the State of Maine was theirs and theirs alone, and they started shooting rockets at the towns and cities of Maine. It gets a bit twisted here because the Mainers, who are under fire would historically have the side that usurped the land from tribes and repeatedly broke treaties with the Indians, who, like the Israelis have a true historic claim to the land. Oh, well, maybe it's not such a good analogy because the sides are switched. The good guys are the bad guys, and this gimp has just confused herself.
But, the Gimp is still wondering, if not posting so often. I am more tired than you can imagine of this presidential race. There will be no winning for losing.

Odds and Sodds

The gimp wonders how long it will take for the resident socialist atheists to start tearing strips off me and demanding various and assorted apologies for finally getting around to saying my piece on this subject.
I often read articles on bad weather phenomona and find myself wondering why certain people are so quick to attack and minister who dares say that any weather related disaster was a display of The Lord's displeasure with us. There are times when I think that they protest too much and so loudly because they are afraid deep down inside that it is indeed true. From where I sit, it's pretty clear to me. But then, I am an unabashed believer in the G-d of the Christians and Jews, Who is the Same for both groups.
During the war here in 2006 the weather was perfect for fighting a war. It wasn't too hot, as it usually is at that time of year, but, as soon as the war was over, we were treated to brutal heat for the rest of the summer and a very dry winter. And this summer is shaping up to being even worse. What did we, as a people, do to deserve this? That's an easy enough qustion for any believer to answer. For starters we lost our way and as a country seem to be hell bent on being just like all the others rather than remembering that we were 'chosen' to show that there is a better way, not that we can be as vile and corrupt as the worst dictatorship. Being that kind of 'chosen' is the exact opposite of priviledged, which so many seem to think it means. I wish more people both here and in The States would take a good hard look at the destructive weather, the floods, tornadoes, forest fires and other displays of what could very well be Divine Displays of Displeasure, and think about it, rather than dismiss it as the mad ravings of religious fanatic.
Ok, I'm ready for you to do your worst. Just remember that the gimp is only wondering here.
