Driving in Israel

The gimp wonders why things are done the way they are done in the 'places where plans are made'.Road 90 goes from Metula in the north to Eilat in the south. It is Kiryat Shmonah's main street, and pretty much has to be used to go anywhere from here. I've been using that road for the last 18 years and can not remember a time when it wasn't under construction. Back in the good old days when I was driving this road four days a week, it was very narrow and had some very winding twisting hilly stretches that were fun on a motorcycle but frustrating when driving a car behind a huge truck. Over the last ten years of the last century the national road works company worked on widening and improving selected sections of the road, even though it felt like their sole purpose was to drive Northern motorists insane. Recently it was decided to turn Road 90 into a highway with two lanes in each direction. The obvious way to do this was to start at both ends and work towards the middle. That's all fine and well, except that now we have two sections of road with a speed limit of 100kph that feed into a much longer part with a limit of 60kph where trucks and heavy equipment cross the road. There are barriers instead of shoulders which means there is absolutely no place to pull over to allow emegency vehicles to pass. Road 90 must be used if there is any hope of getting to the regional hospital in less than 3 hours. That hospital is in Safed which has two roads that lead off Road 90. One is a newly built road that leads to the hospital and southern part of Safed and cuts the trip to half an hour from one hour. The old road to Safed is a tribute to drunken engineering. I am convinced that someone got a camel drunk and laid out that road by following the drunk camel to the bottom of the mountain Safad sits upon. For more years than I care to think about that drunken camel road was the only way to get to Safed and today it is still the best way to get to the nothern neighborhoods. As you may have gathered it is very narrow, winding and steep.
Yesterday I had reason to go to Safed, the nothern part; the drive up there was fine. Only one tailgater got the 'treatment' from me. Rather than staying at 70kph, I slowed down to the posted limit of 60, until the idiot passed me on a solid line. The drive home, on the other hand, was another story entirely. I usually just put the car in 2nd gear and let it drift slowly down the twisty parts. When I got to the twistiest part, I was greated by a bull standing on the road side of a fence between the road and a field. At least it just stood there and didn't chalenge my right to be on the road. Again, this road doesn't have a shoulder wide enough to pull over. Not long after I got over my surprise at seening the bull, a Border Police pick up truck appeared behind me and sat on my rear bumper until he could pass me. He was followed not long after  that by a regular cop car that was in a great hurry. After he went flying by me, I was pleased that no other cars came up behind me. I really do like going slowly down that road. Everything was just fine until I got to the construction zone, where I held steady on 70 kp/h and collected a cavalcade of tailgaters. I was reminded of my previous drive home from Safed, when a traffic cop came up behind me and demanded by way of his loudspeaker that I get out of his way. Yeah, right, immediately, Mr. Police Man. Um, there's no place to pull over and I'm already going 10 over the limit and he didn't have his flashy lights on, which is against police proceedure here. In the end I slowed way down and he passed me in a maneuver that would have been illegal for anyone else. But cops think they can do what they want. Nine kilometers out of town the road widens again and they all blasted past me, some making rude gestures. The absolute worst part of the trip was that it was 86 degrees out side and my a/c wasn't working. By the time I got home I was feeling a little woozy and collapsed on the bed with a liter bottle of water. As I lay there sipping the water, I wondered what would happen if the hizzbullies decided to play with us. I'm afraid that it will be all over before the IDF can get enough men, supplies and equipment up here. Yes, that road does have to be widened, I just hope someone has a plan in case of emergency. I also hope and pray that I won't have to be taken to hospital by ambulance before they finish the new improved middle part of the road. I am seriously considering using the Northern Road the next time I go to Safad, even though it is inches from the border with Lebanon and the hizzbullies. Literally inches.

The insanity never stops

The gimp wonders if the criminals now governing Israel will ever be removed from office. I'm pretty much at the point where I don't much care if they are removed legally or otherwise. I just want them gone. The insanity has gone on for much too long, and it has to stop now.
It was bad enough when Sharon used the IDF illegally to remove Jewish settlers from Gaza by force, and gave the whole Gaza Strip over to the PLO who gave it over to the Iranian backed Hamas, which turned those settlers who had been sent there to settle by the government in the first place into refugees from their own land in their own country. The whole thing, from agreeing to turn Gaza over to those committed to destroying Israel, to using the IDF to do it, and leaving those illegally removed as refugees to this day is, in fact against Israeli law, but Sharon didn't care. He was elected because he promised that he would never do that, but, that if the issue ever came up, would hold a national referendum, and abide by the results. When the issue did come up, his own party held their own vote and the vote went against him. He never even bothered to hold the promised national referendum, but, instead, went ahead against the express desires of his own party, and his campaign promises. The very day after Gaza was handed over, they started shooting rockets at Sderot. Sharon broke away from his party and started a new one, that is made up of a considerable number of members of his old party who were on the verge of being investigated for criminal activities. This new party under the leadership of Sharon's number two man, Ehud Olmert, has come to the conclusion that it can do whatever it wants to do, and to hell with the people.  For some inexplicable reason they seem to be dead set on destroying Israel by whatever means possible. The problem is that we, the citizens have no way to force him out of office, or to even force new elections. Any time a member of his coalition so much as thinks about forcing the issue, he buys them off by giving their party a bribe in the form of a concession that will cost the Israeli taxpayer millions. It appears that there is not so much as one honest honorable member in his coalition. Not a one. And the opposition isn't much better.
The Gazans are doing everything in their power to paint us as a genocidal entity by claiming that we are not allowing food, medical supplies, fuel, and power to be delivered to them. Sorry, guys, but we are. Ask your leaders where they are stockpiling it for their own use. And while you're at it, ask them where the billions of Dollars and Euros are sitting earning interest rather than being used to build your economy. It's in their interest to keep you bored, hungry and angry so that you'll be willing martyrs in the struggle to wipe the Jews off the face of the earth for your Iranian masters. Would teaching math, science and accurate history, not be a better school curriculum than hatred?
I'm not even going to bother asking who will be next after all the Jews are done for everyone to hate. That's a no brainer. It will be any and everyone who is not a Muslim, and we'll get the blame even though there are none of us left because we didn't stop them before it was too late. If the rest of the world doesn't figure out that they and we are fighting the same evil pretty soon it will be too late. If we don't get rid of Olmert and his criminal cronies, too late will be here sooner than anyone expects.

Drive by post # 2

The gimp wonders why, with all the latest focus on Bam Bam's church of choice nowhere have I seen any mention of the fact that no matter which branch of Christianity he embrases, the Muslims will forever consider him one of their own. His father was a Muslim and that's all it takes. It matters not if we think that he can chose his own religion. The mere fact of having been born to a Muslim father is all it takes.
I don't know about you, but that scares me almost than anything, considering what great buddies Bam Bam's minister of record is with Louis Farakhan. I don't like this one little bit.
As far as the Muslims are concerned Bam Bam, his wife and daughters are all Muslims.
Now, go put that in your ballot box and stuff it!

Drive by post

The gimp wonders just where Bam Bam would be today if abortion had been legal back in the day. I've heard some stupid people say some stupid things, but hearing Bam Bam state that he thinks that his 16 year old daughters should not be punished with a baby and/or an STD just about takes the cake. But, then, of course his own mother wasn't exactly punished. She gave the kid to her own "racist" mother.

Is It Just Me?

The gimp wonders what is wrong with just about everyone. Yes, this is going to be a rant of rage. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the State Department has become dangerously schizophrenic instead of their usual 'pro just about any Arab Syndrome'. The U.S. is at war with Arab Islamic terror types in Afghanistan and Iraq who are backed and supplied by Iran whose leader threatens to eventually wipe out Israel (the little Satan) and America (the big Satan). Iran in effect controls Syria, Lebanon, and Gaza through their various proxies in the area. They are also gunning to take over the West Bank which is controled today by the PLO or, Fatah, if you are into PC. Abu Mazzen, a die hard holocaust denier, the 'new' head of the PLO makes no effort to disguise the fact that he wants Israel gone. The man represents a group of people who could have their very own state as far back as 1947, but rejected the partition vote of the UN because they wanted it all. They still do. Nothing has changed except that we are now helping them, salami slice by salami slice. And we arm them with weapons that can and have been used against us, as well as weapons and training direct from Iran.
Why is the rest of the world hell bent on helping them? These are the same people who are fighting against the U.S. and Europe in Afghanistan and Iraq. What does the State DEpartment think will happen if they win and wipe out Israel? The whole Middle East will become a jumping off place for them to take over the rest of the world with the help of the Muslims already in place in the 'free world'. Do they really think that won't happen? They only say it every day.
My question at this point is pretty much along the lines of, why are Jews hated so much that radical Islamics are preferrable?
The intrepid Secretary of State is practically forcing us to hand everything over to the very same people (with a slightly different name) that her country is at war with. Where is the logic in this? The only answer I can come up with is that lots of people, and I mean lots, want the world rid of Jews for once and for all. Any and every lie about us is turned into gospel truth, and believed without question because we Jews are intrinsically evil. Why? All those of us who live in Israel want is to get on with it and not to have defend ourselves against the millions of Arabs and State Department types who for some strange reason think that if we are gone, everything will be just fine in the world and the Jews will just be a sad footnote in the history books.
The gimp wonders.
