WHICH SIDE?

The Gimp has been wondering which side the U.S. is going to come down on in the new game Syria is playing. The blind eye doctor from Damascus is trying to play America against Iran in a very dangerous crap shoot. He seems to think that America can not afford not to give him what he wants in order to keep terrorists from taking over this corner of the Middle East and making things even worse in Iraq, not to mention the rest of the world. He could easily be in a position to give Achmedinajar territorial continuity that would eventually include Israel. They already have us surrounded. Hizbulla in Lebanon, Syria, Gaza, and if Assad doesn't get what he wants from America, it will be all over for everyone. The only thing he wants is the Golan Heights and if he can con the US into forcing Israel to give it to him he will gladly accept American aid instead of Iranian aid, which he's already getting. He might not be a religious fanatic like the Iranian mad man, but he is an Arab leader who will tell you what you want to hear, then go right ahead and do what he, or his puppeteers want. There is only one thing he wants and that is the Golan heights. He'd like to get off the "terrorist state" list too, but that's not and never has been a priority. Once he has what he wants he'll go right back to his Iranian pals and be an active part of the World Jihad movement.
He's playing a very dangerous game and it's still pretty much on the back burner of the international diplomatic stove. Iran has already supplied him with enough weapons to be a serious threat and Hizzbulla has been resupplied with rockets that can reach every corner of Israel.  As things stand right now, the only thing he needs America for is to force  Israel to give him the Golan without going to war to get it. And that is only so he won't be seen as an aggressor by the Internation community.
Don't think for a minute that Abu Mazzen will last long against Hamas. He is already playing both sides against the middle and it won't be long before he announces that he's come to terms with the thugs in Gaza and starts making even more demands from the West. Just add their territory to the Syrian/Iranian block and the picture becomes even clearer. Israel is doomed, and guess who's next. How long will it take for the world wide jihad to be in a position to take over the rest of the world? We are just a tiny spot on the Middle East map that won't take them long to color in Islamist shades. So, that's Gaza, the West Bank, (ex)Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Saudi Arabia (yup, them too) Iraq, Iran, Pakistan, the Emirates, and Yemen. How long will it take for Jordan and Egypt to fall in line? Not as long as you might think.
Oh, yes, The Gimp does wonder.

A collective loss of sanity

The gimp wonders if a collective loss of sanity has taken hold among elected officials in the U.S. I don't have the time I'd like to check things in depth and end up relying on Fox News, which is a little insane as well (but at least I admit it.)
I was gobsmacked to put it mildly by Barack Obama's ignorance about the geography of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Granted, he must have gone through high school well after I did, and I would even take a very small bet that he slept though those classes, but at the end of the day, that's no excuse to talk rubbish while trying to win the Democratic nomination to run for President of the United States. Nope, no excuse. If he couldn't be bothered to do his homework while in high school, he would be well advised to start doing some now so he won't sound quite so stupid.
I also wondered how long it would be before some bright bulb blamed Bush for the collapsed bridge. It wasn't a long wait. Does anyone really believe that if there was no WOT there would be federal dollars spent on what is the responsibility of each individual state's DOT? Come on people. Not only would that bridge have collapsed, many more most likely would have come down by terror.
I had a nice long leisurely rant planned for today, but it is now time to go and get ready to leave for a demonstration in Jerusalem. Grim details at Gimp House and A Gimp's View From the North.
